The Department of Science and Technology has recently held a pre-qualification of the Vietnam Quality Award 2010, 3 enterprises passed the preliminary competition. They are Thong Nhat Rubber Joint Stock Company, Ba Ria Rubber Co., Ltd., and Ba Ria Vung Tau Seafood Processing and Import - Export JSC (Baseafood).

According to report of Department of Agriculture and Rural Depvelopment, since the beginning of this year, rubber production of province has exported over 2,500 tons, equals 72% over the same period last year and reaches 24% compared the plan.

According to Centre for clean water and envirionment sanitation, in the last 6 months of this year, the centre will strive to complete 300 biogas projects, to support for local people.

PVGas VT, a subsidiary of PetroVietnam Gas (PV Gas) has just constructed the road No. 3 and No. 7 project at the PVGAS Vung Tau port project cluster. This is the reserved road, ensures safe conditions and convenient for means of fire prevention, facilitates rapid handling in unexpected situations. This is also infrastructure to serve LPG cold storage construction and PV GAS port development projects when these projects are officially put into operation.

According to the Vung Tau City’s Economic Chamber, there has been no any violation at production and business establishments on the finished inspection of pre-packaged goods measurement, quality and labeling in the city in the recent time.

Mr.Vo Huu Hiep, Vice General Director of Ba Ria Rubber One Member company Ltd., said that, till now, the company has signed a long-term contract to export rubber latex with over 80% rubber product which be expected to expoit in 2010 (about 5,200 tons).
In May only, the company expoilted about 600 tons of rubber latex, reached 60% plan.

According to report of Centre for Rural Water Supply and Environment Sanitation, till the end of March 2010, about 24,519 households in Rural area have installed water- meters for using tapping water (38.4%). Total length of water pipe in rural area area about 897,015 meters, so about 42% rural people can use clean water (26,584 households). But, people in Cu Bi commune (Chau Duc district) and Tan Lam commune (Xuyen Moc district) have not been used clean water.

In the middle of April, Sai Gon-Binh Chau JS company and HDReal company started construction of Sea Star Suite (Sao Bien) apartment and hotel complex in Binh Chau- Ho Coc tourism area.

In 2010, Centre for Rural Water Supply and Environment Sanitation will invest for upgrading, building 2 new water supply factories in Hoa Hiep commune and Bau Lam commune from the budget of province and funding of Netherlands. When these water supply factories come to operation, brings total 60% households of local to use clean water.

Coastal erosion and flooding coastal lowlands, estuaries ... are the challenges of climatic changes that Baria-Vungtau will face. This is a warning of the scientists at the Center for Social Development and Regional Environment under the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Association.

One year influenced by the world economic crisis has passed. Closing difficulties and challenges, industrial enterprises are welcoming a new year with the ebullient activities again.

On October 16th, 2009, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Minh-Provincial Party Committee Secretary, Mr. Tran Hong Ha-Deputy Provincial Party Committee Secretary had organized a union of alluvia points, eroded coast of Baria-Vungtau from the area of Loi wharf in Binh Chau (Xuyen Moc), Loc An (Dat Do) to Phuoc Tinh (Long Dien). Accompanied them by Department Directors of Science & Technology, Communication and Transport, Agriculture and Rural Development, Natural Resources and Environment and Secretaries of District Party Committee, Chairmen of Xuyen Moc and Dat Do Districts.

By the end of October, the value of export turnover in the industrial sector, small-scale industry reached USD462.76 million, decreased 0.94% compared with the same period. However, in comparison with other commodity categories, this reduction rate was not significant, the export market of this category remained quite stable over the past year, and accounted for 67.97% of the proportion of the total export turnover of the province.

Techmart Vietnam ASEAN+3 with the participation of countries in the region (ASEAN, China, Japan, South Korea) and other countries in the world, the Ministry of Science and Technology,  ASEAN COST+3, People"s Committee of Hanoi and  People"s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City are co-organized. Techmart Vietnam ASEAN+3 took place in Hanoi from 17-20 September 2009. This event is a practical activitiy to celebrate the 50^th anniversary of Science and Technology of Vietnam and th 1000^th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi.

On the date of July 2nd, 2009 the conference of preliminary wrap-up of stage 1 (2006 - 2009) the co-ordinate program between the Vietnam Farmers Association of Baria-Vungtau Province and the Provincial Department of Science and Technology has been conducted.

On the day of 29th, May 2009, Vietnamese Cocoa Development Dispatch Board – Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has organized its first regular meeting in 2009. Attending the meeting, Mr. Tran Ngoc Thoi, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People’s Committee, Dr. Pham Hong Phuong, Deputy Chief of Vietnamese Cocoa Dispatch Board and representatives of the Agriculture and Rural Development Departments of provinces which have planted cocoa trees.

On the day of April 2nd, 2009, the Department of Natural Resources and Environment co-coordinated with Semla Program Authorities to organize a seminar of the scientific theme “Building up the theme of environmental observation of Baria-Vungtau Province to 2020”. The theme has been carried out by Institute of Environment and Resources, Vietnam National University – Hochiminh City.

On the day of 25 November 2008, The Branch of Standards, Measurements and Qualifications co-coordinated with the Technique Center 3 to organize a seminar “Methods of Measure Management for packaged goods in accordance with the regulations”. There were more than 70 representatives of production and trading packaged goods businesses, economic departments of districts in the provincial area attending the Seminar.

Within two days of 21 and 22 October 2008, in the Union Hotel – Vungtau City, the Branch of Standards, Measurements and Qualifications has cooperated with the Training Center under the General Department of Standards, Measurements and Qualifications to organize a training course “Operation of using and maintaining measuring and qualification equipments in gasoline distribution and retail units”.

Ba Ria- Vung Tau‘s Industrial Zones Authority issued the Investment License number 49221000112 for Long Son Petroleum Industrial Zone project (Long son commune, Vung Tau city).

On the second of April 2008, the BR – VT PPC held a meeting, chaired by Mr. Tran Minh Sanh, the PPC Chaiman to review DoST’s executive results and achievements of the approved yearly plan of 2007 as well as to discuss advantage and disadvantage of implementation of yearly plan 2008 and the progress of pilot project on preventing coastal erosion and study of anti-water whirlpool in the province.
