The Loc An estuary of Loc An village, Dat Do district is an important estuary of Ba Ria Vung Tau province. Until the beginning of 2003, the erosion created 2 new estuaries and put all the local economic and social activities under heavy threat. In 2004, the Department of Science and Technology of Ba Ria Vung Tau province studied and promoted a solution which is called Stabiplage, a “soft technological solution” of France to against the erosion of coast in Loc An based on a scientific project. The project using Stabiplage technology was carried out and finished in July of 2005. Nowday, after 4 years, the project not only against the erosion well but also restore the coast and re-create dunes with the average height of 3m-5m, the local ecosystem has been strongly expanding. These constructions have a lot of effectively results on economical, scientific, social and environmental demands.
On June 22nd, 2010, provincial Scientific Council organized to approve the subject “Building engineering and geological database and map editing of Ba Ria-Vung Tau province”, headed by MA Phan Van Tuyen belonging to Southern water resources investigation & planning Union.
To build engineering and geological database and map editing for major economic and coastal areas of BR-VT province.
On 20th May, Department of Science & Technology organized a conference to accept “Expanding lighting model to support for people under Moc Xuyen District and Dat Do in Ba Ria – Vung Tau Province”, headed by PhD Nguyen Xuan Anh acting as project chairman and implemented by advanced science and Technology Centre.

On June 22nd, Management Training Institute (MTI) under Ministry of Science and Technology in collaboration with the Baria-Vungtau Department of Science and Technology opened the 4-day training course on “State Management of Science and Technology in the context of international economic integration. Trainees participating in the traing course came from DOST’s of South provinces as: Longan, Vinhlong, Binhthua, Dongnai… and state management offices, enterprises of the Baria-Vungtau province.
Ms.Truong Xuan Loc, Director of Trade Promotion centre (Department of Trade and Industry) said that: Ba Ria- Vung Tau province has 4 enterprises join the 2010 International Trade Fair which be held in Can Tho. They are: Van Sen company Ltd.,, Tri Hai company, Baseafood and Thanh Liem handicrafts shop.
